In addition to environmental goals, college administrations are starting to find a valid business case—brand strategy and cost savings, to name a few—to pursue sustainability initiatives. Following up on concepts included in the strategy paper initiated by Babson College President Len Schlesinger and his team, the Babson Community is leading on the forefront of these efforts.

Shelley Kaplan, Associate VP, Facilities Management & Planning, has been spearheading tactical initiatives and The Babson Sustainability Steering Committee (BSSC), founded in 2008, is overseeing a community-wide effort to reduce the College’s environmental impacts, preserve resources, and foster education around sustainability.

The BSSC and other members of the Babson Community are identifying key projects in which investments can be made to boost energy efficiency levels and real cost savings. These efforts will set the stage for what Babson is going to do over the next few years. In this panel discussion Shelley and the Babson team will share insights into what has been done so far and what will be done going forward, and will also provide a forum for attendees to ask questions.
