Babson Alumni Association: What We Do

In conjunction with various areas of Babson, the Board of Directors performs its work through several committees. If you wish to support any committee or its initiatives, please contact the chairperson directly.


Executive Committee

This Committee meets on a regular basis to discuss broad issues affecting the Babson Network, with particular focus on the alumni base. The Executive Committee is responsible for setting the tactical direction of the BAA.

Communications Committee, chaired by Kevin Fox M’90

The Communications Committee was created to ensure regular alumni dialogue within the Babson Network. The initial focus is the development of a BAA Web site and regular communication to alumni regarding the efforts of the BAA.

Mission: Further a culture of exchange in the Babson community together with Advancement Communications.

Actions:
  • Communicate Alumni Association message regularly via media, events, and programs to alumni, student, faculty and staff
  • Ensure regular dialogue with key alumni, students, faculty and staff
  • Collaborate on redesign of alumni Web site
  • Measure effectiveness of all outreach efforts

Engagement Committee, chaired by Amy Weil ’87


Mission: Expand alumni engagement and facilitate a dynamic network of engaged alumni.

Actions:
  • Act as resource and partner to Alumni Relations staff to sustain and promote existing programs and clubs
  • Engage alumni to introduce new ideas to enhance the alumni experience
  • Partner with Alumni Relations staff to promote dialogue and communication around problems, issues and ideas
  • Measure effectiveness of all outreach efforts

Governance & Operations Committee, chaired by Jacki Giordano Bedard ’89


Mission: The Governance and Operations Committee is responsible for managing the operational, tactical and functional aspects of the Alumni Association.

Actions:
  • Manage nomination process for BAA Board positions
  • Manage the annual Alumni Leadership Awards, including the nomination process
  • Manage and oversee Board operations and bylaws, assuring that processes are clear and effective

Finance Committee, chaired by John Rogol ’77


Mission: The Finance Committee provides financial oversight over all Alumni Association activities.

Actions:
  • Implement and oversee Financial Audit Committee
  • Develop a vision for the sources and uses of the financial resources of the Association through revenue generation and fund raising
  • Align with College Development efforts to support scholarships and BAA programs
  • Align with College programs and Alumni Relations

When We Meet

The BAA holds three meetings per year for the full Board of Directors. The meetings are held on campus, in conjunction with the Trustee meetings. The meeting schedule for 2009:
  • February 7
  • May 9
  • October 2-3, Back to Babson (open to the entire alumni community)
